Overview

The Custom Dashboard is your landing page in Verity. You build a custom dashboard by adding a card for anything you want to keep an eye on — adoption, scores, activity, a particular team — and Verity does the digging, so the insights are ready the moment you log in.

Build the dashboard you need

Verity surfaces the answers up front, so you spend less time hunting for numbers and more time acting on them.

What you’ll learn

  1. Write effective queries that produce useful cards.

  2. Start a dashboard from scratch or from a template.

  3. Add and manage cards using the Fact Finder and shortcuts.

  4. Read dashboard insights, including KPIs and Quick Summary.

  5. Refine results with card-level and global filters.

  6. Manage dashboards, including names, homepages, and deletion.

Level 1: Queries

A card is only as good as the query you submit. The clearer you are, the sharper the result. A strong query names three things:

  • What to measure: Average score, pass rate, practice count, adoption.

  • Who or what it's about: By region, by group, for a practice bot, for a person, for a scorecard.

  • Over what time (optional): This month, the last 30 days, this month vs last month.

Write a focused query

Vague: “Show me scores.” The card will ask you to add more context.

Clear: “Show the average score by group for the last 30 days.” This produces a useful answer.

How you phrase your query also decides the type of card:

  • “What is the overall average score?” → a single number.

  • “What is the overall average score for this month vs last month?" → a comparison card.

  • "What is the overall average score by region/group" → a bar chart.

  • "How has the average score changed over the last 6 months?" → a line chart.

  • "Who are my top 5 performers?” → a leaderboard

  • "Show me the distribution of users across regions" → a donut/pie chart.

  • "Show me most recent quotes used to open for Advanced SaaS Scorecard" → a quote chart.

  • "Show me the most recent transcript scores for all regions” → a table. (complex queries)

Level 2: Start your dashboard

You can either start your dashboard by entering your query and adding the card, or you can use our pre-built template. Just click on the link ‘Or build me a complete ready-made dashboard’. You will be able to edit the template and add or remove cards.

Level 3: Adding a card

Ask a question, and it becomes a card on your dashboard. The skill that matters is phrasing the query well.

3.1 Use the Fact Finder

The Fact Finder query bar

Use the Fact Finder to submit a query and turn it into a dashboard card.

  • Type your query in plain English.

  • Press Add card.

  • The card shows a brief loading state while it works out the answer, then appears on your dashboard.

3.2 Use a Shortcut instead

Verity dashboard query shortcuts

If you don't know what to ask, click Shortcuts next to the Fact Finder. You'll see ready-made queries grouped by topic (Adoption, Scores, Activity). Pick one — it fills the Fact Finder for you, and the card is added the same way.

3.3 Refresh, remove, reorder

Card controls for refreshing, deleting, and filtering
  • The ⋮ menu on each card gives you Refresh (re-run the query now) and Delete card (removes it immediately — easy to add back).

  • The arrow on a card jumps to the Performance page for more reporting details.

  • Drag a card by its grip handle (on the far left) to reorder.

  • The filter button we’ll cover in Level 5

3.4 When a card looks empty or wrong

Dashboard card messages for missing context, no data, and technical errors

A card can show one of three messages instead of an answer. Each means something different and has one fix.

  • Add more context: Your query was too vague. Add a detail — a group, a bot, a scorecard, a metric, or a date range — and ask again.

  • No Data: The query was fine, but there's genuinely nothing to show — for example, a team that hasn't practised. Nothing is broken, we just don’t have any data to report.

  • Something went wrong: This is technical — the card couldn't load. Click Refresh. If it keeps happening, get in touch so we can look into it.

Level 4: Read your dashboard

Once you have cards, read the dashboard from top to bottom.

4.1 The KPI metric strip

The KPI metric strip at the top of a Verity dashboard

The row of tiles across the very top shows your adoption, total practices, active users, average score, and bot usage. You’ll find it on every dashboard; you can't move or edit the tiles, and they update when you change a global filter.

4.2 Your cards

Each card answers one query.

4.3 The Quick Summary

The dashboard Quick Summary panel

The Quick Summary is a written brief of what's happening across your dashboard. Open it from the button ‘Quick Summary’ in the top navigation area. It pulls out a list of good insights and gaps or weak spots, with the key figures linked through to the relevant report.

Level 5: Refine with filters

You can refine the dashboard in two ways:

  • Global filters at the top update the dashboard as a whole.

  • Card-specific filters refine an individual card’s query.

5.1 Changing a card’s query

Card-specific filter controls

To refine a card’s query, open its filters. On the left, you will see the items you can change in the query. Select the item you want to change and use the list on the right to change it

You can only change the specific names and numbers:

  • Swap one region, sub-region, group, practice bot, scorecard or person for another

  • Change a number — for example, "top 5" to "top 10"

What you can’t change:

  • What it measures — you can't switch a card from average score to pass rate

  • How it's grouped — you can't switch it from "by group" to "by region"

To change the fundamentals of the query, you’ll need to ask a new question instead — that gives you a new card.

When you have no card filters:

A card with no available card-specific filters

It just means your query has no items that can be refined/swapped out. You can use the global filters on top to refine it or add a new card

5.2 Filter the dashboard

The filters near the top — region, sub-region, team, time range and bot — change everything at once. The KPI metric tiles at the top of the page and your cards should update to match. (Note, some cards stay fixed on purpose — see below)

Why some cards don't change ("Query-specific"):

A query-specific card with a Bound filter

Some cards ignore the filters, and that's deliberate. If a card's query names something specific — a month, a named region, a particular person — it locks those specific items and shows a "Bound" badge in your filter controls. It shows because you've already told it exactly what to show, so we keep it fixed, and the global filters will not affect that card.

A card left open, like "average score by group", follows the filters as normal.

If you want a ‘bound’ card to follow the filters instead, ask a new question that doesn't name a specific thing.

Level 6: Managing your dashboard

6.1 Switch or create a new dashboard

The dashboard selector for switching or creating dashboards

Use the dashboard selector in the top navigation to create a new dashboard or switch between the ones you have.

6.2 Rename

The Manage dashboard controls for renaming a dashboard

Open the gear icon → Manage dashboard, change the name, and save. (A new dashboard you haven't named yet takes its name from its first card.)

6.3 Set your homepage

The option for setting a dashboard as your homepage

In Manage Dashboard, choose which dashboard loads when you open Verity — set one as your homepage so it's the first thing you see on the Home page. You will see your homepage being prioritised on top of the dashboard switcher dropdown with a purple icon

6.4 Delete

The option for deleting a dashboard

Remove a dashboard you no longer need from the same Manage dashboard controls. You’ll be asked to confirm

FAQs

Sharing dashboards

Can I share my dashboard with my team or leadership?

Not at the moment. Dashboards are personal — there's no "share" or "send" button, and no shared or org-wide dashboard. For now, the practical options are to show someone your screen, or point them to the Performance page behind a card (the ↗ arrow), which they can open with their own login. If shared dashboards would be useful to you, tell us.

Who can see the dashboard I've built?

Only you. Your dashboard, its cards and their order are yours alone. Other admins don't see it, and it isn't visible to the people being coached.

Can another admin change my dashboard, or I theirs?

No. Every admin has their own separate dashboard. Adding, editing, reordering or deleting cards only ever affects your own view. No one can move your cards, and you can't move theirs.

Can the people we're coaching see this?

No. The Custom Dashboard is only for admins and sponsors with reporting access. The people being coached don't see it.

Do I need special access?

Manage access in permissions. If you think you should and can't, ask whoever manages your Verity access.

Data

Can I trust these numbers — do they match the Performance page?

Yes. The cards, the KPI strip and the Performance page all read the same underlying data, so the same figure should agree across all of them for the same scope and time range. If you ever see two places disagree for the same thing, flag it to us.

How current is the data?

It keeps up with practice as it happens — a completed, scored practice feeds into your numbers shortly after, so you're never looking at data that's days old. Use a card's Refresh (⋮ menu) to pull the latest right now.

Can I see how an individual is performing?

Yes — you can ask about a specific person by name, for example "how is [name] performing?".

Building dashboards

Can I have more than one dashboard?

Yes. Use the dashboard selector to create and switch between several — for example, one per region or per team you look after.

Is there a limit to how many cards I can add?

Yes — up to 20 on a dashboard. If you reach it, remove a card to add another, or start a second dashboard.

Can I export my dashboard, or put it in a report for leadership?

Not yet — there's no download or export today. For now you can screen-share it, or open the Performance page behind a card for a fuller report. If exporting to a document or slide would help, let us know.

Why do some cards ignore the global filters?

Its question named something specific — a set month, a named region, a particular person — so it's Bound to that and stays fixed when you change the global filters. A more open question (like "average score by group") follows the filters. Ask a new, open question if you want a card that responds to filters.

A card says "No data" — is it broken?

No. The question worked, but there's genuinely nothing to show for that group or time range yet — for example, a team that hasn't practised. Check you'd expect data for that scope.

I deleted a card I wanted — can I get it back?

Yes. Ask the question again and the card comes back.
